Phone System allows you to control calls within Microsoft Teams. It will enable you to replace your existing phone system with services and features provided by Office 365 and Teams, allowing you to integrate the experience into your organisation’s cloud environment.
Users are able to use Microsoft Teams to perform basic call related tasks, making and receiving calls, voicemail and transferring calls. This can be done using mobile devices, a headset with a laptop or PC, or certified IP phones that work with Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. This also provides Administrators with the ability to manage calling within the same admin console used for file sharing, messaging and so on.
To allow external calls to landlines or mobile devices, Phone System can be configured to connect to the PSTN in one of two ways:
By purchasing a Microsoft Calling Plan for Office 365 or by using Direct Routing.
Direct Routing enables organisations to connect their voice trunks directly to Microsoft’s cloud environment to allow users to make and receive calls. Organisations can use their existing service provider to connect their voice trunks via a certified SBC (Session Border Controller) to Office 365 and Phone System.
